Team Structure

You will join Stephenson Harwood’s Athens team, based in Greece since 1996, working closely with partners and associates in Athens and colleagues across the firm’s international network. The office is known for its collaborative, business-focused approach, advising clients across Greece and the Eastern Mediterranean on cross-border transactions, financings and complex projects, with a strong focus on shipping, trade and related corporate matters. The team works in both Greek and English, combining deep local knowledge with international expertise to deliver clear, practical advice.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support on corporate and commercial matters, including due diligence, transaction structuring and document negotiation.
  • Draft, review and advise on a range of agreements (including shareholder and joint venture arrangements, commercial contracts and ancillary documentation).
  • Assist with transactional work by preparing and coordinating transaction documents, schedules and conditions precedent.
  • Deliver clear, practical legal analysis tailored to client objectives, with strong commercial awareness of sector and deal dynamics.
  • Manage and progress matters efficiently, including coordinating internal stakeholders and liaising with external counsel, counterparties and clients.
  • Maintain high-quality matter administration, including accurate filing, version control and document management in line with firm standards.
  • Contribute to business development and know-how, including producing updates, precedents and supporting pitches and client communications.
  • Build and sustain an informal internal and external network of contacts to support client service and team collaboration.

Attributes/Skills Required

  • Greek qualified lawyer with proven legal experience in corporate and commercial law is required
  • Prior experience with a leading Greek corporate law firm is a strong advantage.
  • Excellent academic record and a master’s degree in corporate law is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required
  • Relevant post qualification experience in drafting and negotiating corporate and commercial documentation
  • Accuracy and attention to detail, with demonstrable good housekeeping and file management practices.
  • An intellectually curious, lateral thinker who can work independently, is highly organised, and resilient.
  • A proven team player, exhibiting cooperation, collaboration and using one’s initiative to support colleagues and deliver for clients.
  • Able to develop an informal internal and external network of contacts and build trusted relationships.
  • Excellent numerical and communication skills with demonstrated commercial awareness.
